John C. Maxwell said, "Failed plans should not be interpreted as a failed vision. Visions don't change; they are only refined. Plans rarely stay the same and are scrapped or adjusted as needed. Be stubborn about the vision but flexible with your plan."

As I read this quote, I thought about Jeremiah 29:11. When God instructed Jeremiah to tell the children of Isreal, "I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Every day you and I will use one or more of these mediums to set appointments, connect with clients, and even plan vacations. Yes! You and I use these things to plan our lives by the day, month, and year. I have been a planner all of my life.

In high school, I had a plan for college and the rest of my life; I love having a plan and following it.

I remember working on my plan in college when I had this nagging sensation that something was missing; the desire and drive were gone. I was miserable and empty, and I had lost direction. It came to the point that I needed to have a conversation with my parents, but I needed to figure out the conversation I wanted to have with them.

So, one day I went into this phone booth, yes! Yes! I'm dating myself, and instead of calling my parents, I had a serious conversation with God. You'll know how we do in times of trouble; call on who? Jesus.

But this time, it was different. God was trying to get my attention. His ways are not my ways; my ways are not His ways.

At that moment, I remember a quote by T.B. Joshua that says when God is executing His plan in our lives, He also designs and arranges events that continue to unfold until His purpose is revealed. At that moment, I surrendered my plans and said yes to the will of God.

Look, it was scary because it meant that I would transfer schools. I was on my way to Bible College. I felt a sense of peace when I surrendered to God's plan.

But the real lesson came many years later when I was in a freak accident at work that left me completely incapacitated. I couldn't do daily activities, getting out of bed was tough, cooking for my family was even more challenging, and I couldn't drive.

I remember being in this place and saying, "What's your plan, God? What's the plan now? Suddenly, my thoughts went back to that phonebooth experience. Where I made my commitment and completely surrendered; even though I was in pain every day, even though I was frustrated with where my life was, I kept the faith that God had a plan for me.

The day came when I was ultimately out of pain. I don't know what you're going through; you might be in a place where you feel helpless or hopeless or have a feeling that something is missing. I want to encourage you to have a better relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is your moment to experience the infilling of the Holy Spirit by accepting Jesus (the only begotten son of Jehovah) as your savior. When you surrender your plan for God's plans, God will lead you where you need to be.
